The InfraGard National Disaster Resilience Council Mission is to inform communities how to mitigate the high-impact threat of long-term power and communications failure (greater than 30 days), which could lead to catastrophic, cascading losses of life-sustaining infrastructures and resources for recovery.
The NDRC is very concerned about losses of critical infrastructure. Special concern for loss of electric power, communications, water & wastewater, food & agriculture, supply chains, associated transportation, healthcare and Information/operation technology (IT/OT).
To support the different mission areas, the NDRC has the following Working groups.
- Predictive Modeling - Working to provide easy to use and interpret tools that explicitly quantify multiple sources of risk and enable informed utility topology hardening and budget decision making.
- Black Sky Communications – a new group looking at how to communicate if the electric grid is not operating. They will help InfraGard members obtain their HAM license.
- Long Duration Power Outage - Personal and Household Readiness in support of Local Government and Business. Get ready for a long duration power outage. Know how to get home from 20 miles even 50 miles away. Support your community being ready.
- Testing - Have created a whitepaper providing a list of sites that can do EMP testing and a sample testing procedure. See link below
- Water Security - Learning about water security. Published whitepaper on issues and suggestions in 2022 The American Infrastructure Guardian, available on the InfraGard National website.
- 36 Stratagems - Following up on the FBI “Made in Beijing” these are a way to learning about the Chinese strategies and actions for US citizens
- Cyber Issues - The working group is concentrating on Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA)
- Catastrophe Game - It is free to play. Each player uses their own device to connect to Tabletopia (a laptop is recommended for adequate screen size). One player hosts the game. Players use their preferred audio conference solution to communicate during the game. The key teaching value of the tool is 'If anyone dies, everyone loses. https://tinyurl.com/CatastropheGame
