Join us virtually or in person at our September meeting as we welcome Stephen W. Goldsmith DVM, Management Program Analyst, WMD Directorate (WMDD), Chemical-Biological Countermeasures Unit, FBI Headquarters, Washington, DC. Dr. Goldsmith will provide a high level overview of the FBI’s role with helping to protect the food supply from intentional contamination incidents. He will discuss threats to the agriculture sector with a focus on pre-harvest production of agricultural commodities (ie livestock, crops, rangelands, forests, and the agriculture oriented bioeconomy/biotech). He will discuss threat actors, motivations, techniques and countermeasures to measures to prevent and/or recognize the signals or triggers of suspicious activity and how to report and share information between ag sector partners/agencies, FBI, first responders, and the intelligence community.

Dr. Goldsmith has been assigned to the FBI Hazardous Materials Science Response Unit (HMSRU), Laboratory Division, Quantico and the WMDD. He is a graduate of the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science (1973) and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (1977) degree. His veterinary career includes private veterinary practice in Georgia and Florida.
