Join the Arizona InfraGard Chapter with Doc Morgan for its presentation on Intelligence Collection Disciplines. The U.S. Intelligence Community (IC) is a federation of 18 agencies and organizations that work separately and together to conduct intelligence activities necessary for the conduct of foreign relations and the protection of the national security of the U.S.
Collection is an integral part of the Intelligence Cycle. Collectors include: human intelligence (HUMINT); counterintelligence (CI); technical intelligence (TECHINT); open source intelligence (OSINT); signals intelligence (SIGINT); geospatial intelligence (GEOINT); and measurement and signatures intelligence (MASINT) disciplines. Each discipline is defined; component and key features identified; and historical aspects highlighted. The discussion is presented in non-technical language to provide an understanding of the disciplines and how they support the IC and government customers. However, there is more…Basic intelligence collection disciplines are not only used by nation state actors (U.S., Russian Federation, China, North Korea) but Non-State Actors (NSAs–subnational governments, commercial firms, academic and scientific institutes, civil society movements, militants, and criminal groups) and Foreign Intelligence Entities (FIEs– known or suspected foreign state or non-state organization or person that conducts intelligence activities targeting the U.S.). This presentation provides the prerequisite baseline information.
