The InfraGard Central Pennsylvania IMA’s April webinar presentations focus on one emerging and one overlooked but vitally important area of critical infrastructure security.
The first, ‘Quantum Computers Pose a Huge Threat to Current Encryption: Get Ready’ explores how encrypted data must remain secure for 10 years or even decades. If data is stolen today, quantum computers will have enough power to decrypt that data in the future, while is still valuable.
This presentation will educate participants on the immediate quantum threat, and present viable strategies and solutions for the present and future.
The second, ‘IT Has Hijacked Control System Cybersecurity,’ will explore how professionals responsible for control systems vital to food, water and power are most often engineers with little or no cybersecurity training, while professionals responsible for IT networks are usually specialists trained in cybersecurity, but with little or no interaction with control systems personnel.
We will explore what threats to critical infrastructure this exposes, and how they can be effectively neutralized. Notable vulnerabilities and public policy approaches will also be discussed.
